
Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning for rain, drizzle, and snowfall across multiple districts starting December 20, as a western weather system enters the region.
Murree, Rawalpindi, and Galliyat are expected to see heavy rainfall and snow, which could make roads slippery and potentially cause temporary closures from December 20 to 22, officials said.

The PDMA forecast thunderstorms in the Potohar region, Mianwali, Bhakkar, and Layyah until December 21, while central Punjab cities including Lahore may experience light drizzle on December 20 and 21.
Tourists and locals have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in Murree and Galliyat, and to exercise caution on highways and mountain routes during the winter weather.

District administrations have been instructed to ensure emergency preparedness, including deploying Rescue 1122 teams and monitoring road conditions, while smog and fog are expected to persist in northern and central Punjab.
Authorities urged residents to follow weather updates closely, take necessary precautions, and be ready for sudden changes in visibility or snowfall that could affect daily life and travel plans.
