Around 180,000 consumers were left without electricity across five Ukrainian regions following overnight Russian attacks, Ukraine’s acting energy minister Artem Nekrasov said on Thursday, highlighting the ongoing escalation. The affected areas include Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy.
Nekrasov reported via Telegram that the strikes targeted critical energy infrastructure, disrupting power supply and leaving thousands of households and businesses without electricity during the night. Repair crews were deployed immediately to restore services.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia’s southern Rostov region killed three people, including two crew members of a cargo vessel, authorities said. Fires in the port of Rostov-on-Don and the town of Bataysk were extinguished without major industrial damage.
One civilian was killed and seven others injured in Bataysk when two private homes caught fire due to the drone strike. Local officials emphasized that oil leaks were successfully prevented, avoiding broader environmental hazards.

The attacks are part of a continuing cycle of mutual strikes, with Ukraine and Russia accusing each other of targeting civilian and commercial vessels. Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to block Ukraine from accessing the sea following damage to oil-exporting tankers.
Energy authorities in Ukraine are working to stabilize electricity supply and prevent further outages, while monitoring the security of infrastructure under continued threat. Residents have been urged to stay alert as repairs and emergency response operations continue.
