Jackson Browne reveals death of son Ethan Browne in heartbreaking statement

LOS ANGELES – Ethan Browne, the 52-year-old son of singer-songwriter Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, has passed away. The family announced the news on Facebook, stating that Ethan was found “unresponsive in his home” on the morning of November 25, 2025.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away,” the statement read. The family requested privacy and respect during this difficult time.

Ethan was born in 1973, two years before his parents married in 1975. His father, Jackson Browne, had previously spoken about his hopes to balance life as both a songwriter and a father, reflecting on his relationship with Ethan following the tragic death of his wife Phyllis, who died by suicide at the age of 30.

Ethan Browne built a career in acting and modeling. He appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone with his father as a toddler in 1974 and later starred in films such as Hackers (1995) alongside Angelina Jolie and Raising Helen (2004) with Kate Hudson. He also made a guest appearance in the 2002 episode of the TV series Birds of Prey.

His passing comes as a shock to fans and the entertainment community, who remember him for his work on screen as well as his connection to one of music’s iconic families. While details surrounding his death remain limited, the family’s announcement underscores the need for privacy as they mourn.
