The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest exploration and production company, has announced the commencement of production from the Pasakhi-14 well in Hyderabad, Sindh.
The E&P informed its stakeholders in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.
“OGDCL is pleased to announce the commencement of 1,100 barrels per day (bpd) oil production from its new development well, Pasakhi-14,” read the notice. The well is located in the Hyderabad district and is part of the Pasakhi & Pasakhi North Development & Production Lease (D&PL), where OGDCL holds 100% working interest.
“Leveraging its in-house expertise, OGDCL effectively delineated, drilled, and tested the structure. The well was drilled to a depth of 2,183 meters, specifically targeting the hydrocarbon potential of the upper sands of the Lower Goru formation. “Deployment of latest drilling technology comprising Rotary Steerable System (RSS), Electromagnetic Measurement While Drilling (MWD) and nitrified mud system-used for the first time by the company, ensured precise directional control and preservation of formation integrity, resulting in excellent well delivery,” read the notice. OGDC shared that the well is equipped with state-of-the-art ESP technology.

OGDCL was incorporated on 23 October 1997 under the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (now the Companies Act, 2017). The company was established to undertake exploration and development of oil and gas resources, including production and sale of oil and gas and related activities formerly carried on by Oil and Gas Development Corporation, which was established in 1961.
