LAHORE – Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a robbery gang by arresting three suspects, including two serving policemen, involved in multiple house break-ins. Addressing a press conference, Sadar SP Rana Tanveer Hussain Tahir said that Chung police arrested the two policemen and their civilian accomplice for their role in a series of home robberies.
The arrested cops were identified as Ali Haider and Rahat Ali, who have since been suspended from duty. Police recovered jewellery, cash, and valuables worth millions of rupees, along with illegal weapons used in the crimes. In a separate operation, police also apprehended three suspects allegedly involved in a honey-trap scheme used to blackmail and extort victims. The accused – Raza, Salman, and Khuram – would lure people to meet them under the pretense of business dealings, record explicit videos at gunpoint, and snatch their cash and valuables.
