Barrister Gohar, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said there are some doubts about the upcoming by-elections. He stated that if Imran Khan directs the party not to participate, his decision will be final. The party will follow Khan’s instructions 100 percent.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Gohar said he tried to meet Imran Khan but was stopped by police. He called the prevention of the meeting inappropriate and emphasized the need for reconciliation. He also warned that wrongful punishments and disqualifications would increase divisions and harm the country.
Gohar mentioned that Imran Khan ordered no party leader should publicly discuss resignations. Leaders like Salman Akram Raja should avoid commenting on party matters to prevent misunderstandings and rumors. He clarified that Salman Akram Raja’s resignation is not officially submitted and any final decision on resignations rests with Imran Khan.
Regarding the by-elections, Gohar said he was unaware of any decision as he missed the last political committee meeting. He added that the final call on contesting the elections will come from Imran Khan after their meeting. Gohar confirmed the party’s full commitment to follow the chairman’s directives.
When asked about the opposition leader, Gohar said the decision lies with Imran Khan. He also criticized the federal government for providing little support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which has suffered from floods in 10 districts, and urged the government to help generously.
