ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday declared December 2, 2017 as the deadline for fulfilling requirements under the newly-passed Election Act 2017 for remaining a registered political party. The ECP issued the second notice to 352 enlisted political parties, seeking the details of their workers. According to the new law, it is mandatory for each party to submit a list of at least 2,000 members, along with their signatures or thumb impressions. They are also bound to provide the National Identity Cards (NICs) numbers of these members. The first notice in this regard was issued by the ECP on 20 October, 2017. However, not even a single party has submitted the required list of its workers so far. Published in Daily Times, November 8th 2017.
