LAHORE: The District administration has decided to depute special price control magistrates (PCMs) to rein in prices of edibles during the T-20 match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Qaddafi Stadium scheduled for October 29. Addressing a meeting to review the arrangements for the upcoming match, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sumair Ahmed Syed said that all deputy chief officers would be attached with assistant commissioners (AC) to ensure splendid arrangements for the match. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Tahir Farooq, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Sundas Irshad, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rao Imtiaz, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) Chief Officer Masood Tamana, assistant commissioners and others. The deputy commissioner said that the district administration was fully committed to ensuring exceptional arrangements on the occasion of T-20 cricket Match. He urged all departments concerned to work in a coordinated way to make the event a success. He encouraged officers and directed them to leave no stone unturned for the matchless preparation of T-20 match. He directed the MCL chief officer to complete patch work of the route until October 26. “As far as parking arrangement is concerned, it must be on the same pattern as was done in previous T-20 match between Pakistan and World XI.” Arrangements, like establishment of help desks, facilitation desks, temporary hospitals, installation of directional boards and CCTV cameras, special shuttle service for transportation of spectators to cricket stadium and deployment of special price control magistrates to keep a check on prices of edibles will also be ensured, he added. Separately, Punjab Police Inspector General Arif Nawaz has said that foolproof security arrangements for the final T20 match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka would be ensured. Talking to a private TV channel on Saturday, he said that that the provincial police had been providing best possible security to the visiting cricket teams over the last two years. The Sri Lankan team would also be provided foolproof security, he said. About the recent spate of knife attacks in Karachi, the IG offered to help in every possible way in arresting culprits involved in the attacks. Published in Daily Times, October 22nd 2017.
