Pakistan has been striving for transparency and accountability so the fight against corruption takes the center stage. Let’s take a deeper dive into this issue, explore the impact of the anti-corruption organization and what difference can we make on an individual level. Corruption is not a new phenomenon, it has left its marks throughout the history. As time changed, corruption remained, although the tactics changed but the essence remained the same i.e. abusing power for personal interest. Anti-corruption day serves as a reminder that the fight against corruption requires collective action. Pakistan has faced challenges to this day but with the growing awareness regarding corruption has brought quite a lot of positive change. In recent times, different organizations have taken various initiatives like imposing laws against corruption and raising awareness about it. NAB has been at the forefront in investigations and prosecutions against corrupt practices and FIA has its focus on federal crimes like cybercrimes, human trafficking, corruption etc. Government of Pakistan has taken some anti-corruption initiatives like digitalizing government services which increases transparency and reducing direct interactions that might create a chance for corrupt practices. There are also some whistleblower protection laws which encourages people to come forward with any information without the fear of any sort of retaliation. Although legal and institutional frameworks play an important role but it is necessary to bring a change on an individual level to have an ethical societal norms and behaviors. Education systems can play a vital role in achieving this goal by instilling ethical values from an early age. We can launch campaigns regarding self-reflection on personal values and actions and supporting leaders who emphasize on moral values. All in all, just follow the way of life presented by Islam 1400 years ago. Pakistan has gone through many hardships and struggles and with growing corruption, people have stopped trusting the government which is a very dire situation as such nations may face catastrophes but we have held on due to some efforts to eradicate corruption. Each and every individual should work honestly in the roles they are provided and pave the way for a positive change.
