Sir: The government has finally lifted a ban on YouTube, adding that an earlier worldwide outage sparked by its actions was unintentional. By putting in place a ban that would prevent Pakistani users from accessing the popular video-hosting website, PTA engineers ended up blocking access to YouTube for two-thirds of the world! It was only after YouTube and related officials made adjustments that access was restored. The government should take this as a lesson in policy-making and implementation: it is always better to think carefully and act than act hastily and worry about the consequences later. Also, one hopes that the people of Pakistan will not be subjected to such arbitrary and poorly thought-out decisions anymore.SAAD KHANIslamabad
