Sir: The communication barrier nowadays in the International Islamic University is becoming unbearable. President of the University Dr Darwaish and his lack of English fluency and understanding are the reasons behind this deadlock. These inadequacies indicate the difficulties faced by the students as well as staff; everyone claims to be affected. He has filed the suspension of a teacher who was speaking in Urdu in the classroom, which violates the rules according to the university’s policy. Later on, it was revealed that the professor was from the Urdu faculty and that the subject cannot be taught in any other language. There have been many such irregularities and the management is quite unable to cope. Undoubtedly, after the president’s arrival, the circumstances have improved and the quality of education is at its peak but the differences in language have contributed significantly to the issues of exclusion and marginalisation. It is an important factor of our education system that has seldom been highlighted. MAHRUKH IBRAHIM aAbbottabad
