Sir: The Gorakh Hill Station is the highest recreational site located at a height of 5,688 feet in the Kirthar Mountains Range and spread over 2,500 acres in Sindh. It offers great attraction to nature lovers owing to its moderate temperate and beautiful surroundings. Due to its elevation, the site offers a special climate, with minus 3 C to 5 C temperature during winter and 16 C during June and July. It is said if Murree is the Queen of the Hills, then Gorakh Hill is a lonely, majestic king. A large number of people from all ages visit this site during Eid festivals and holidays to enjoy themselves by seeing its natural beauty. But they face a lot of difficulties and problems while travelling on dangerous zigzag roads. There is a lack of basic needs and facilities such as hotels, motels, chair lifts, zoos, etc, for tourists. There is no public transport to go up to the hill station. Tourists have to arrange their own transport from Sehwan Sharif to the hill station. From British rule to the present government, so many feasibility reports have been prepared for the development of the hill station and a master plan was drafted by a Pakistani engineering consultancy company but all these have not been implemented so far. Government should take interest and take initiatives to develop the hill station for the attraction of local and foreign tourists. It should arrange basic facilities at this recreational site. In this way we can develop a tourism industry and generate an income of millions of rupees annually. SHAIKH ABDUL RASHEED Shikarpur
