Sir: Ah! So we lost in the quarterfinal against Australia and it brought our World Cup journey to an end. I know we could have shown better performance in the quarterfinal if we had batted well and performed better in our fielding as well as bowling. If we analyse our whole journey of the World Cup, we come to know that initially we lost our major players like Saeed Ajmal, Muhammad Hafeez and Junaid Khan. Then we started our roller coaster ride with an all new team. In the very beginning, we lost our two matches that demolished our morale as well as our determination. I am not defending my team’s defeats but I am sketching out all the reasons that had created a bitter impact on Pakistan’s performance. Yes, I know it is heart wrenching to see your team losing, especially in an important match of the World Cup. But I believe that our team gave their best and it was not their day. In this World Cup, Misbah’s captaincy was commendable, Wahab Riaz’s bowling was brilliant, Irfan gave his best but in the end he was injured, Sarfraz performed brilliantly and other team members played well too. But this is not the end for the Pakistan cricket team. What they need to do is to learn from their mistakes and try to overcome them. On the other hand, no doubt Australia gave a brilliant performance and congratulations to them for going through to the semi-final. Moreover, I know it is disappointing to see our team lose but we need to understand that winning or losing is part of the game. We should remain positive and motivate our team. I still have faith in my team.SAROJ RIZWAN KHANKarachi
