Sir: We are living in a country where people die of hunger, thirst and diseases because there are no medicines available in various hospitals. The country is facing a financial crisis. Our economy has been dependent on borrowed money from the international financial institutions. We borrow and survive. What a nation! Knowing all this, we have such avaricious and gourmand people in different organisations, most of them at the helm of affairs, who are dragging the economy down by arranging refreshments from the national kitty during casual, routine or non-productive meetings. These meetings are arranged only with this intention to eat, enjoy and make merry. The Public Accounts Committee and other relevant organisations are requested to take notice of such refreshments during routine meetings and ask the government to ban this practice once and for all to save the taxpayers’ money.HASHIM ABROIslamabad
