
LAHORE: The 33 death anniversary of former senator Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf was held with solemnity, says a press release issued here on Monday.
A large number of politicians, lawmakers, civil servants, farmers and journalists from Sindh and Punjab provinces attended the death anniversary of the late Ashraf, father of Chaudhry Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, former chief executive officer of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited and former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
On the occasion, the gathering paid rich tributes to the late Ashraf for introducing revolutionary measures in the agriculture sector as well as rebuilding of socio-economic conditions in the remote areas. They acknowledged the services offered by the late lawmaker in social welfare works.
Special payers were also offered for the eternal rest of the departed soul in the Heavens. It is worth mentioning that the late Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf belonged to a well-known family of Challianwala from district Mandi Bahauddin. The late leader also worked as an activist of the national independence movement under the guidance of his uncle Chaudhry Rehmat Khan, a close associate of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
The late Ashraf headed several social institutions and was lifetime chairman of various organisations of Punjab ‘Abadkars’ in Sindh. He departed from this mortal world in November 1983. His invaluable contribution in social, cultural, welfare activities and in the political and industrial sector would always be remembered.
