Setting like the winter sun,
Rescinding like the dying echoes of a hallelujah,
The blinding mist has settled,
And yet we find ourselves lost in the wilderness,
In our minds a clarity has emerged,
Only to leave us more dumbfounded,
Like a fading picture etched on my mind,
Drowned out like a youthful laugh,
The dying sighs of ecstasy,
What was once set in stone,
Flickers weakly in the ambers of memory,
The sun of optimism shines,
The horizon of freedom within our grasp,
Yet the soul remains dank,
The words caught in our throat,
The last traces of our hope frozen on the window,
Remnants of emotions left unsaid,
All around us the house is crumbling,
Yet the tree of life expects to grow,
Should I not be more afraid?
Because I find myself at the crossroads,
Of self-destruction and my destiny,
Which route shall I go?
Must my feet bear the weight?
Of a burden I did not deserve to tolerate,
But the fear is not forthcoming,
In this cloud of desolation and uncertainty,
Your light shines on me,
And once more I find in my company,
The pleasures of joy,
And the carelessness of love,
Because I know no matter which path I take,
The warmth of your companionship will make,
Every day beautiful,
And every second worth living,
Now dare I ask for more?
When all that you are is my everything
