Maqsood Ahmed leading Pakistan Post with strategic vision, policy excellence

Director General Pakistan Post, SQN LDR (R) Maqsood Ahmed, a senior BS-21 officer of the Government of Pakistan, is spearheading the modernization and transformation of the national postal network through visionary leadership, policy innovation, and institutional reform.

According the press statement issued by Pakistan Post, he is also driving the organization for organizational growth, fostering international partnerships, and managing complex postal and governmental operations, who is playing a pivotal role in shaping and implementing policies aimed at enhancing service delivery, operational efficiency, and connectivity across the country.

His leadership continues to strengthen Pakistan Post’s position as a key public service institution in an evolving digital and economic landscape.

He has a proven track record of representing Pakistan at the highest international forums, including the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and Asia Pacific Postal Union (APPU).

Maqsood Ahmed holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from University of Karachi. He is a graduate of National Management Course from the then National School of Public Policy (NSPP), Lahore. He is also an alumnus of Pakistan Air Force Academy, Risalpur and Civil Services Academy, Lahore.

He holds job experience of 38 years combined in Pakistan Air Force and Civil Services of Pakistan. He has served at various positions in provincial and federal bureaucracy. In his illustrious career in Pakistan Post, he has served at various positions at Unit level, Regional level, Circle level and Directorate General level.

He has commanded three Postal Units, one Postal Region and three Postal Circles of Pakistan Post. He has also remained posted as Joint Director and Executive Director, Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Postal Staff College, Islamabad. At Headquarters of Pakistan Post, he has remained posted on key positions of Director, Deputy Director General (Operations) and Additional Director General (Operations).

Maqsood Ahmed has attended various domestic and international training courses both in Pakistan Air Force and Civil Services of Pakistan. He is a graduate of National Management Course, the then National School of Public Policy, Lahore (Now Pakistan Administrative College, Lahore).

He has represented Pakistan at various international forums like 28th Congress of Universal Postal Union (UPU), Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2025), UPU-WCO Contact Committee Meeting and SECUREX Workshop, Berne Switzerland (2023), 12th Asia-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) Congress, Tehran Iran (2017), 26th Congress of Universal Postal Union (UPU), Istanbul Turkey (2016). He is also elected member of the Advanced Electronic Services User Group (AESUG) Management Committee of the Telematics Cooperative, Universal Postal Union (UPU) since July, 2024.
