Punjab Police continues to address citizens’ grievances through the IGP Complaint Centre 1787, and in continuation of these efforts, more than 53,000 complaints received at the Complaint Centre during the current year have been successfully resolved.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, said that complaints received from citizens are being resolved within the prescribed timeline in accordance with the SOPs. He said that the monitoring mechanism has been further strengthened to make the performance of the 1787 IGP Complaint Centre more effective. IG Punjab further said that DPOs are personally monitoring complaints received through the 1787 Complaint System to ensure their prompt resolution.
Punjab Police spokesperson said that significant progress has been achieved in resolving complaints of various categories, including 25,061 complaints related to registration of cases and 12,796 complaints regarding delayed investigations. Similarly, 3,884 complaints related to police services and 11,834 departmental and other types of complaints have been resolved.
Furthermore, 2,859 complaints regarding the arrest of accused persons, 4,524 complaints related to recoveries, and 2,627 complaints concerning faulty investigations have been resolved. Likewise, 1,321 complaints regarding the cancellation of false cases and 897 complaints related to change of investigation have also been disposed of.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem has advised citizens to contact the 1787 Complaint Centre without hesitation in case of any complaint against police officials.
