Punjab expands doorstep services, launches ramadan welfare initiatives

Published on: February 22, 2026 4:20 PM

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari stated that the provincial government is delivering citizens’ rights directly to their doorsteps through multiple welfare programs. She emphasized that the administration focuses on accessibility, transparency, and public convenience across all districts. Moreover, she highlighted that services now reach communities in both urban and rural areas. The government, she added, aims to simplify support systems for ordinary citizens.

She explained that under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz, a new Ramadan initiative called “Maryam ke Dastarkhwan” provides meals to fasting individuals throughout the province. The program operates in every tehsil and welcomes both men and women at arranged iftar gatherings. Consequently, thousands of families benefit from organized food distribution during the holy month. Officials described the effort as a community-focused welfare step.

In addition, the minister noted that 74 Sahulat Bazaars across Punjab supply affordable and high-quality food items to citizens. The provincial Food Authority monitors these markets to ensure hygiene and quality standards. Furthermore, women can order essential household goods from home, increasing convenience and saving time. As a result, the bazaars aim to stabilize prices and improve access to daily necessities.

Azma Bokhari also stressed that the Ramadan Nighban Package ensures timely distribution of aid cards to all eligible recipients. District administrations and relevant staff members work around the clock to implement the program efficiently. Moreover, the initiative seeks to guarantee that financial assistance reaches deserving households without delay. Therefore, the government continues to coordinate efforts to enhance delivery mechanisms.

Overall, the provincial administration says its policies focus on social support, food security, and streamlined public services during Ramadan and beyond. By expanding welfare programs and monitoring quality standards, officials aim to strengthen public trust. Additionally, authorities believe that consistent outreach will improve living conditions across the province. Ultimately, the government maintains that direct service delivery remains a core priority for inclusive development.
