PM Shehbaz orders fast-track Apna Ghar loans

Published on: June 11, 2026 10:58 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities and banks to speed up processing of applications under the Apna Ghar Scheme. The move matters because it affects affordable housing access and construction sector growth nationwide. Applicants, banks, and the real estate sector are directly impacted by the decision.

The prime minister chaired a review meeting on the scheme’s progress and noted rising public participation. He said increasing demand reflects public confidence in the government’s housing initiative. Officials reported that total loan disbursements have reached Rs11 billion so far. The scheme aims to expand home ownership for low and middle-income citizens.

Shehbaz Sharif said the programme would stimulate economic activity across multiple sectors. He added that housing growth supports construction, allied industries, and employment generation. The prime minister stressed that faster approvals would help more deserving citizens benefit. He urged institutions to maintain momentum in implementation.

The premier instructed the Housing Ministry and State Bank of Pakistan to simplify application procedures. He also directed banks to accelerate approvals for eligible applicants within a shorter timeframe. Authorities were asked to expand awareness campaigns across the country. Provincial governments were told to establish facilitation desks at district level.

Meanwhile, officials informed the meeting that 67,900 applications have been received nationwide. Of these, 16,587 have been approved, while 3,146 beneficiaries have received loans. A digital portal has been launched to monitor progress and improve transparency. Further measures are being introduced to streamline processing and expand outreach.
