Despite not appearing together for seven years, Dempsey confirmed in a recent interview that their friendship remains strong. He has stayed in touch with Dane, texting regularly and checking on his well-being as the neurological disease progresses.

Dempsey revealed that he tried to get Dane a role in his upcoming thriller Memory of a Killer. While that plan didn’t materialize, he praised Dane’s resilience, intelligence, and sense of humor, calling his courage “incredibly inspiring.”
Meanwhile, Dane recently guest-starred in NBC’s Brilliant Minds as a firefighter newly diagnosed with ALS. His performance reportedly received a rare 10-minute standing ovation on set, highlighting his determination to continue working despite his condition.
