Tom Hiddleston teases Loki’s multiverse role

Published on: December 30, 2025 4:30 PM

Tom Hiddleston has offered rare insight into his involvement in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday while promoting the second season of The Night Manager. The actor, returning to television after nearly a decade, described the new Avengers installment as monumental. He hinted that the film’s narrative scope is unlike anything audiences have seen before. Consequently, his comments have sparked fresh speculation among Marvel fans.

Speaking in a recent interview, Hiddleston said his contribution to Avengers: Doomsday felt complete and deeply surprising when he first read the story. He emphasized that the central idea of the film is bold and creatively ambitious. According to him, the storyline ventures into unexplored territory within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a result, expectations for the film have risen significantly.

Hiddleston’s remarks have led fans to question whether Loki could play a central role in shaping the multiverse. His last appearance as Loki was in the Disney+ series Loki, which ended with a major transformation of the character. The once power-hungry villain accepted a selfless role to hold together branching timelines. This evolution positioned Loki as a guardian rather than a ruler.

Over time, Loki’s journey reshaped his identity from the God of Mischief to the God of Stories, responsible for protecting time itself. His long desire for control and a throne faded as he chose sacrifice over ambition. Therefore, Loki now stands as one of the most powerful and emotionally complex figures in the franchise. This shift could strongly influence future Avengers events.

With Doctor Doom set to threaten the multiverse in Avengers: Doomsday, Loki’s role as protector may become crucial. The film, directed by the Russo brothers, is scheduled for global release on December 18, 2026. As Marvel builds toward this major crossover, Loki’s presence could redefine leadership within the multiverse. Fans now await confirmation of how central his role will be.
