
GUJRAT — Students at the University of Gujrat (UoG) expressed their love for the holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and celebrated Iqbal’s poetic legacy in a spirited “Na’at and Iqbal Poetry Recitation Competition” organized by the Hayatian Methematical Society at Hafiz Hayat Campus on Tuesday.
The event stirred hearts and minds as participants from various departments showcased their talent with heartfelt devotion and eloquence. The event aimed to nurture spiritual and intellectual growth among youth by fostering a deep love for the praise of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and the timeless verses of Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt attended the prize distribution ceremony as chief guest. The panel of judges included Dr Sher Zaman, Dr Tasaddaq Warraich, Dr Shafaq Naz, and Dr Abid Dar. The event was hosted by HMS Coordinator Dr Shumaila Yousaf.

Speaking on the occasion, Registrar Naeem Butt emphasized that passionate love for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is a fundamental duty of every Muslim. He noted that Na’at is a profound expression of this love, and that Allama Iqbal was a true devotee of the Prophet (peace be upon him), whose poetry continues to awaken and inspire the Muslim world. He stressed the importance of cultivating this reverence among students.
Participants captivated the audience with their melodious renditions, offering floral tributes of love and devotion through their voices. Faculty members and students from across departments attended in large numbers, encouraging the performers and celebrating the spirit of the occasion.

All runner-up participants received certificates of appreciation. In the Na’at category, Hammad Rafaqat secured first position, Hadiya Butt second and Muhammad Mohtasim third. In the Iqbal poetry category, Areeba Waqar won first place, Tayyab Sakhawat second and Wasif Ali third.
Winners were awarded certificates of distinction along with cash prizes of Rs5,000, Rs3,000 and Rs2,000 respectively.
