Schools shut, exams delayed as Lahore faces chaos

Published on: October 10, 2025 5:09 PM

All government and private schools across Lahore have been closed with immediate effect due to growing security concerns and major road blockages disrupting movement across the city. The decision was made after heavy traffic congestion and unrest created difficulties for students and staff to reach schools safely. Officials confirmed that educational institutions have begun informing parents and teachers through online messages and phone calls to avoid unnecessary travel.

Punjab University has also declared a holiday, announcing that all Law examinations scheduled for today have been postponed. The university management stated that new exam dates will be announced soon after assessing the situation. This decision came as several access routes to the campus were blocked, making it impossible for students to appear in exams. The administration emphasized that the safety of students and staff remains its top priority amid the uncertain conditions.

Meanwhile, educational activities in Rawalpindi have also been affected as several private institutions shut down earlier in the day. The closures followed reports of possible demonstrations and traffic disruptions that could endanger students’ safety. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to determine when normal schedules can resume. However, uncertainty persists as road conditions remain unstable and communication networks face interruptions.

In Islamabad, security measures have been significantly tightened following the announcement of a protest by a religious organization. Law enforcement agencies have deployed additional personnel across sensitive areas, especially near government buildings and public gatherings. Moreover, mobile and internet services have been temporarily suspended in several parts of the capital to prevent misinformation and maintain order.

Additionally, Section 144 has been imposed in Islamabad, banning all forms of public gatherings and protests to avoid potential unrest. Officials have urged citizens to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until the situation stabilizes. With ongoing closures, postponed exams, and increased security checks, citizens across Punjab and the capital are facing widespread inconvenience, hoping for an early return to normalcy.
