LAHORE – A Banned organisation Jamaatul Ahrar – associated with proscribed the Taliban – has claimed the responsibility for the suicide attack in Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park and released image of sucide bomber. A local TV channels reported, after claiming responsibility for the Lahore blast, declared on Monday the start of a new campaign, ‘Sound of Thunder’ the terrorist group on Monday released a photo of the bomber on social media and identified him as Salahuddin Khurasani, giving a new twist to the investigation into the deadly bombing. The Jamaatul Ahrar spokesman further said that the video message of the suicide bomber, which was recorded prior to the blast, will also be released soon. “We carried out the Lahore attack,” Ehansullah Ehsan, spokesman for the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction of the Taliban, told media by telephone on Monday from an undisclosed location. He said the group would carry out more such attacks, vowing to target schools and colleges alongside government and military interests. Earlier, investigators had established the identity of the bomber with the help of an identity card they found at the crime scene, claiming that the attack was carried out by Yousuf, a resident of Punjab’s district Muzzafargarh. Jamaatul Ahrar is a banned organisation which has been involved in a number of dastardly terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
