ISLAMABAD: In just one year, the guests of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have munched snacks with tea and coffee costing taxpayers a staggering amount of Rs 10 million. The documentary evidence presented in the National Assembly has exposed the extremely lavish expenses of the Prime Minister’s House as well as Prime Minister’s Secretariat. The documents revealed that the incumbent government has utilized a huge sum of Rs 646 million on the repair of PM’s official helicopter. A team of six engineers was especially trained for the maintenance of the official helicopter and a huge amount of Rs 9.35 million was spent on their training only. In addition to this, spare parts for the helicopter were imported from abroad and the government had to pay Rs 34 million on account of costs, insurance and taxes on these components. Ironically, a meager amount of only Rs 250 million was released for the provision of food and relief goods for the people displaced during operation Zarb-i-Azb. Government had dispatched the relief goods of Rs 116.27 million to the affected Palestinian people in Gaza due to Israeli assaults and the flood affectees in Sudan. The report also revealed that arms and ammunition of Rs 36 million were procured for the security of different airports, whereas Rs 12 million were distributed among the relatives of the martyrs of Airport Security Force (ASF). The documents showed that heavy claims of Rs 100 million were paid on account of Delhi-Lahore Bus Service, whereas Rs 81 million were used on the information centers for tourism.
