ISLAMABAD: Some more facts have come out in the reference against the misuse of authority by two former directors general and an investigation officer of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The NAB has the record of telephonic data, which reveals that sitting NAB Rawalpindi DG Zahir Shah leaked extremely sensitive and classified documents just to get rid of two former directors general namely Khurshid Anwar Bhindar and Subah Sadiq and investigation officer Muhammad Shafiq. Both former Bhindar and Sadiq along with Shafiq had prepared a reference against the fraud and swindling of Col. Khalid Rashid, an officer discarded by army. Sources told Daily Times that Shah not only shrewdly provided the documentary proof from file of the reference to accused Rashid but also told him that what technical mistakes were committed by the NAB officers in preparation of reference against him. The NAB came to know about this leakage when it got the data of conversations between Shah and Rashid in which the corrupt NAB officer suggest the accused to knock the door of the Supreme Court. He also told him, ”When you take my name in front of the former chief justice, he will start the proceeding of your case without wasting time.” And surprisingly that happened according to the conversation as the Supreme Court ordered Shah to investigate the matter. Then Shah, who was waiting for a chance to remove both officers from the way of his promotion, filed a reference against them for misuse of power in Accountability Court No.2, Islamabad. The big bosses of the NAB are confused about the entire situation but on the other hand they are mulling seriously disciplinary action against Shah. Daily Times came to know that the rules were totally ignored at the time when Shah was appointed additional director. The candidate for the post was required to have an experience of 11 years in investigation, but Shah was working as a headmaster of a school. The NAB would present these documents to the accountability court and for this purpose the consultation with legal expert is going on. It is an interesting fact that Shah conducted an investigation against NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry in the NICL case. Now he narrates concocted stories of the days when he was conducting an investigation into charges against Chaudhry. Daily Times tried to contact Bhindar, but failed. However, Sadiq told this scribe that he had many things to say, but he would speak in the court and present all the evidence in the court.
