My inner-self insisted me to pen down every thought striking my intellect at this moment. I could see it happening. Well, we all do but this is how it is to be done, right? We all are familiar with our society’s idea of “IDEAL LIFE”. We all are designed to live same life, they say. Therefore, she also had to do what others were doing. My friend – No denial, She’s a prodigy. I know so many things she’s so good at. Depressing to her was every single child preparing day and night for that one exam. They assumed to be their DOOMSDAY. From piles of notes and books she could only relate to a poem in our English course book “An Elementary School Classroom in a Slum” by Stephen Spender. Her life shut up in the cemeteries of the classroom and her head weighed down. Be a lawyer, doctor, engineer they say but there’s one thing they can’t hear: the silent beat of creativity beckoning you to trust your gut. All these stereotypes and things been engraved in our brains really affect people. We destroy the love of learning in children by compelling them to work for petty rewards, gold stars, papers marked hundred causing insidious damage. “Children are not colouring books. You cannot fill them with your favourite colour.” What makes us magnificent as species is that we are uniquely different – and that’s INDIVIDUALITY we must celebrate. This generation is so obsessed with the idea of “Perfection”. There’s a lot of pretending involved. Schools even label some students as disorderly, anti-social, lacklustre and even disabled because they are slightly different. We are what we are, and it has nothing to do with what other person is. Might be scary to accept yourself but don’t be afraid. Be yourself and love that person. It is lifelong journey unleashing your potential. Being what you are is happiness. I have an idea about what I am and I’m happy. Everyone deserves to feel the same way. Find your way instead of living your day. Question: Who are you? Answer: You are what you are in this given moment. Label-less. Limit-less. Remember that from this day!
