ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif still stands entangled in the cobweb of political woes owing to Panama leaks. In the prevailing ominous scenario, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, MNA has floated proposal to get pass a resolution in support of the premier from Balochistan Assembly (BA) as a morale booster for the premier. Nawaz Sharif looks to be under siege of perpetual fear and scare about the formation of Judicial Commission (JC) and its future. Nawaz Sharif and his lieutenants are perturbed over the future of such a judicial commission which is neither enshrined in the Constitution nor is legitimate in the eyes of law of the land. Despite writing of a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) for formation of JC, the premier and members of his cabinet are seeing no light in the tunnel of hope. Federal ministers have told Nawaz Sharif that if CJP shows willingness for formation of JC even then possibility is there that it will be challenged in the Apex Court in one way or other because prime Minister is authorised to constitute inquiry commission as per Act-1956 and JC has no legal or constitutional standing. During federal cabinet meeting it was conveyed to the premier by federal ministers the legal and constitutional standing of JC be created in consultation with likeminded political parties so that no one could express reservations over it. Moreover consensus will also be forged with opposition parties in the perspective of Terms of Reference (ToR) of this commission so that no opportunity is afforded to any side to challenge the commission in the court. When contacted, former president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Abid Hussain Manto said that formation of inquiry commission is discretionary power of prime minister and it is premier who is entitled to appoint chairman of this inquiry commission. There is no room for formation of JC in the law. Taking Panama leaks issue directly to JC constituted by SC is not correct. If someone has any objection over then what forum he will resort to get address his complaint. A constitutional and legal avenue be found for resolution of any problem whatever it may be. In order to steer Nawaz Sharif out of this complex situation his old and close aide, Mehmood Khan Achakzai has proposed that first voice in favour of the premier be raised from Balochistan in forceful manner and a resolution be got passed from Balochistan Assembly in his support. Federal ministers are gradually also mounting pressure on the premier in terms of activities of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan outside the country. The federal ministers have told Nawaz Sharif in categorical terms that PML-N Government is in hot waters and on the other hand Interior Minister is on joy trip in US and London. Interior Minister should have been in Pakistan at present but it is unfortunate that when the premier is outside the country then Interior Minister returns to Pakistan and when the prime minister returns home then interior minister goes abroad. The ministers have also objected that finance ministry is too much kind and compassionate with interior ministry as the interior ministry has been allocated Rs 2 billion in excess of its budget.
