PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra Sunday said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was a great philanthropist and an iconic social and community leader. “Abdul SattarEdhi was the most deserving person for Nobel prize as he served the ailing humanity without any discrimination,” said the governor while addressing special prayers ceremony for the eternal peace of the departed soul held here at the Governor House. Prayers and Quran Khawani were also offered in this connection. Addressing the ceremony, the governor said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was not just a human being but also an epitome of love for mankind and humanism. He would always live in the hearts of people, he added. Jhagra also visited the Edhi Centre at Qisa Khawani Bazaar and met the staff and in charge of the centre. He offered condolence on the sad demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi and expressed sympathies with the workers of Edhi Foundation. He also announced Rs 1 million for up gradation of the Edhi Centre at Qisa Khawani Bazaar and said that Edhi had rendered innumerable service to the ailing humanity. Meanwhile, a condolence reference to honour Edhi was also held at Tehsil Municipal Administration Hall in Kohat. In Parachinar, tribal elders as well as religious clerics and members of the civil society held condolences references and observed a day of grief for the second consecutive day. Gratitude prayers on PM’s recovery: Special gratitude prayers were held at the Governor’s House on the successful recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who had undergone a heart surgery. The governor congratulated whole nation on the successful recovery of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said, “PM will continue to serve the nation with same commitment and zeal.” A number PML-N KP chapter attended the ceremony.
