The FBI took actor Keith Lawrence Middlebrook, 53, into custody Wednesday evening during an undercover sting. Middlebrook, who held small-time uncredited roles in “Iron Man 3,” “Thor” and “Moneyball,” delivered pills to a federal agent posing as a potential investor after he allegedly claimed to have personally developed a “patent-pending cure” for COVID-19, the global pandemic that has since ravaged the world, the agency said in a statement released Wednesday. According to the FBI, the actor was detained on March 25 and is currently being investigated for the fake drug that he claims he was able to obtain after six weeks and a decade of study. The actor apparently also endorsed the drug on social media where he tried to lure in investors for Coronavirus treatment. On Friday, a decision about whether or not a bond will be set for Keith Middlebrook will be made. Furthermore, U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna made the following statement urging people to be wary of scams amid the coronavirus pandemic: As of now, a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 9th while an arraignment is set for April 16th. For the charges he is facing, Keith Middlebrook could face up to 20 years in prison.
