ISLAMABAD: The France Colony in Sector F 7/4 of the federal capital has become a midpoint of narcotics and drugs. Islamabad has at least 24 “katchi abadis” in the urban and the rural areas of the city, with almost 13,521 families consisting of virtually 84,591 individuals living in them and France Colony is one of them. A young man on the condition of anonymity told Daily Times that some influential people inside the colony had wine making furnaces where they make the wine and later on sold this wine to the contractors and young boys and girls who were drug addicted. He further said that other drugs and narcotics like Marijuana, Heroin and Opium were also a part of the business and the manufacturers of these drugs sold these drugs to the young people of France Colony and to the other contractors. When Daily Times contacted the SHO of the Police Station Kohsar, he said that the police registered an average of 10 FIRs every month against the people who were involved in these illegal activities. However the SHO said that the most of the population of the France Colony was Christian therefore some of them had the permits for the consumption of alcohol but the police took action against the people who were involved in selling the drugs and narcotics. He also said that the duty of the police was to arrest the culprits that were involved in any sort of illegal activities but it was the duty of courts to give them punishment.
