How frequently should women discard their cosmetics

Published on: October 1, 2019 1:51 AM

Many women do not understand that, like everything perishable, makeup products have an expiry date too. What about a particular lipstick, that one has been opting to extrude since ages? Editing their stash is not only good for their skin’s health but it will also speed up the process of getting dolled up.

Bygone makeup products cause skin rashes and irritation. It is truly said by Halima Aden that “Skincare is so much more important than makeup. Makeup is for when you’re having fun and going out. But your skin is forever”.

What to hurl, what to hold up and what should be kept clean? Here is a list of how frequently should women discard their makeup products.

FOUNDATIONS: 6 MONTHS TO 1 YEAR — it is such a makeup product which one continuously applies to their face. Whether one opts for a dry one or a creamy or liquid foundation, they should change it every year. This is because a foundation is being exposed to oily, dead and even to dirty skin cells. After it has been used for one year a foundation’s texture, its consistency, and even its smell starts to change. Individuals should avoid the application of foundation with their fingers, as this thing spreads bacteria. Cleanse all sorts of applicators regularly and one should seal their foundation appropriately after it has been used.

PERFUMES: THREE TO FOUR YEARS — one can make use of a good perfume for as long as 3 to 4 years. One can use it for a long time without worrying about a particular perfume’s expiry date. One should not expose their perfumes to direct sunlight. The lid of a specific perfume should be closed tightly. They can even be maintained for a long time if its nozzle is whipped down properly. An individual should keep their perfumes in a cool and dry place.

EYE-SHADOWS: ONE TO TWO YEARS — whether an individual prefers buying a single eye-shadow or even a palette these all eye-shadows have a considerably good lifespan. As one is constantly using them like applying on their eyelid and then dipping in for more. Due to this bacterium including dead skin keeps on building up in a specific pigment. One should clean their palette regularly. Individuals should even discard an eye-shadow if it becomes caked.

LIPSTICKS: ONE YEAR — even if one is making use of a branded lipstick then they should discard it after 1 year. As lipsticks are waxy and they are not watery so they may not cause any threat. But if it becomes a little gloppy just discard it. No matter how expensive it is. Close the lid of a particular lipstick properly after it has been used. Store it in a cool and dry space. Like this, a lipstick will last longer.

These are some crucial tips and tricks on how often women should swap their makeup products. One should even keep their makeup bag newfangled and bacterium free.
