KARACHI: The two major parties in the Sindh Assembly, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) hindered the discussion on the resolution of Pakistan Tahrik-i-Insaf (PTI)’s MPA Khurram Sher Zaman seeking to change the Name of Altaf Hussain Universities which are under construction in Karachi and Hyderabad. Zaman’s resolution was set on the agenda but the ruling and the opposition parties, as a pre planned move used delaying tactics to end the duration of the session by discussing on the resolution against K-Electric which was presented by leader of the opposition Khuwaja Izharul Hassan. In Tuesday’s preceding the house passed the resolution presented by Khuwaja Izaharul Hassan. Discussing over the resolution MQM leader said that Citizens of the Karachi had been facing the load shedding and over-billing but now K-Electric has increased its terrif which is unjust to the people of the metropolis. PPP members Kher-un-Nissa Mughal and Javed Nagori also criticized K-Electric on inappropriate measures. “K-Electric has been plundering the public, it has no any vision for public goodwill, terrif rates should be decreased immediately” members demanded. After a long and detailed discustion the resolution was passed consensually. PTI MPA Khurram Sher Zaman alleged that delaying tactics was a pre planned agenda. “PPP and MQM leaders had earlier planned lay hurdles to postpone my resolution, they made a commitment that each member from the both parties would discuss the issue for a maximum time so that the resolution taken would consume more time and the other one could not be discussed” Zaman added. “The Opposition leader had requested me to withdraw my resolution but on my refusal they presented another resolution against Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhuwah Pervaiz Khattak” he pointed. It has to be mentioned here that MQM Pakistan has denied of it being connected to Altaf Hussain but its recent move of opposing the resolution in the Sindh Assembly has raised some questions.
