Rogue elements in Karachi on the run: Shah Mahmood

Published on: November 29, 2016 4:49 AM

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Senior Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Monday the rogue elements involved in killing innocent people in the city were now seeking shelter and had split into many groups.

These views were shared by the former foreign minister as a guest at the ‘Meet The Press’ programme of the Karachi Press Club (KPC).

He said, “Even though these people were on the run, they were still present in the city and hence we cannot term the law and order in Karachi as good,” adding that there was still room for improvement in this regard.

He added that there was a shortage of water and power in the city along with piles of garbage being present all around.

Qureshi said that PTI was now focusing on Sindh as it was a green field for PTI and the people of Karachi had lots of expectations with the party.

He said that the 2013 elections were the first major elections for PTI and its political opponents had accused the party of ‘solo flight’.

“We have raised a strong voice against corruption that no one did before and if we did not take this path, no one else would,” he added.

He said that as far as Panama Leaks case was concerned, PTI’s case proceedings would be led by Naeem Bukhari and not PPP Senator Babar Awan. He added, however, PTI would seek legal guidance from Awan and PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan.
