Sir: According to recent studies, the main cause of most deaths in South Asia is air pollution.
It contributes to heart strokes, lung cancers and pulmonary diseases. Despite clear evidence of the rising problems and the seriousness of the issue, governments in South Asia seem to be helpless and clueless on resolving it.
Moreover, it is said that air pollution would shorten the life expectancy of children by an average of 20 months because children are more vulnerable to the impact of air pollution since they breathe more rapidly than adults.
We need to raise awareness campaigns and, the governments of South Asia must find strategies to reduce air pollution.
