Sindh High Court (SHC), on Saturday, summoned respondents, Education and Literacy Secretary and Private Schools Director-General in a petition against schools demanding fees for 15 months for an educational year. A petitioner pleaded before a bench of the high court that the academic session 2018-19 had started from April last year and ended this March. Yet, the school administration required parents to pay students’ fees for three additional months, i.e. up to June, he maintained. The petition further added that the school management had refused to issue results of the students with outstanding due for the additional months. The court has issued a notice to the respondents directing them to submit their responses till May 27. Earlier, an SHC bench had barred the private schools from collecting advance dues for the months of May and June. Parents were also directed to pay the fees in accordance with the court order. Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi had presided over a three-member bench, which retrained schools from collecting this fees in one go; warning them of contempt proceedings in case of non-compliance.
