The sequined black stunner worn by Alia Bhatt was none other than a couture collection by designer duo Ralph & Russo. While this dress gives us gothic princess feels, we can’t stop staring at the well fit leather trimmed corset! And can we give a round of applause for that beautiful pearlescent smokey eye? At the Filmfare Awards last night, she took to the red carpet in a head-turning tuxedo gown from Alberta Ferretti that you’ll want to bookmark for the next formal affair on your calendar. Padukone joined their ranks by giving her own classic spin to the look in a limited edition number from Italian couturier, Alberta Ferretti. The head-to-toe black gown juxtaposed the masculine structure of the lapels with a sleek silhouette that flowed into a layered tulle skirt. Best of both worlds, yes? Tapping into the undying allure of diamonds, she added a touch of bling with cascading earrings and wisely took a rain check on all other accessories. As the perfect finishing touch, a messy bun with tousled wisps complemented the gown, but the real star of the look was the smoky eye that you’re going to want to start practising in front of the mirror right way. Actor Ranveer Singh was among the first to arrive at the venue. He showed up in a funky black and golden suit and large sunglasses. His parents and sister were also seen at the awards event. Sara Ali Khan was seen in a white lehenga while Diana was seen in a pink ruffled dress. Mouni wore a black sequined outfit and Radhika was seen in a shiny silver dress. Sara’s gorgeous lehenga featured extensive gold sequin work along with rich embroidery and she teamed up the luxe lehenga with a matching choli and a dupatta. Sonam Kapoor brought on the pop of pink on the red carpet. Dressed in a customised Ralph & Russo’s dress from their couture Spring Summer 2019 collection, Sonam showed us exactly why we look to her for red carpet extravaganza. Her hair slicked back in a bun and diamond studs for jewellery, the hot pink dress took centre stage! The customised gown is featured without the ruffle sleeve in the designers collection, but considering its the season of bold ruffles and structure, Sonam definitely picked right! We are totally living for the return of the mermaid cut! Published in Daily Times, March 25th 2019.
