Abdul Khalique Ali

Acting Director FIA facilitating Criminals

Published on: January 18, 2017 5:48 AM

KARACHI: Director General KDA Syed Nasir Abbas has been issued a new passport under the profession of Government service despite a letter written to director FIA for appropriate action against the DG KDA for misdeclaration in his previous passport.

The issuance of a new passport no KQ1013822 under the profession of Government Service is completely understandable since Nasir Abbas had already been issued a passport KQ1013821 on 15-04-2015 under the occupation of Business valid for 10 years.

In a letter written to Director FIA on 22nd Dec 2016 , Mr Azhar Hussain Kalwar , Assistant director of regional Passport office, Saddar had informed “Syed Nasir Abbas has applied for grant of subsequent passport in his office. While processing his case it transpired that Syed Nasir Abbas obtained his previous passport bearing KQ1013821 reported lost with profession as Business owner, whereas he mentioned his profession as Government Service while applying for subsequent passport. Copies of the Data Form along with connected documents are enclosed.

In view of the above the case is referred to you for necessary action under the instructions contained in letter no 15/01/2015 policy dated 08-12-2016 .”

The inquiry of this matter was referred to Malik Murtaza Depty Director (Anti Human Trafficking Circle ) who marked it to S.I Sohail of his department . Daily Times contacted Sohail regarding the proceeding of the investigations but he abstained to comment terming that he has filed his reported and his D.D would be in better position to answer the queries. When contacted Malik Murtaza he said that he was on leave and does not know any thing about the incident.

However Daily Times has come to know through its sources that S.I Sohail had found Nasir abbas guilty of Misdeclaration and had recommended that any FIR must be logged against him but the Acting Director Asim Kaimkhani who had been approached by Nasir Abbas not only withheld the report but also used his influence to help Nasir obtain a new passport.

Asim Kaimkhani according to sources in the FIA was not only rewarded for this generous act but Nasir Abbas has also allotted a huge plot in Gulistan e Johar in the name of his close relative. He has permanently booked a room in the Awari hotel where Khaimkahni spends his pleasure time. The sources have also informed that Nasir has also arranged a room for the Chairman Anti Corruption in the same hotel so that he would be safe from all sides. The total expenses of the leisure are also paid by Nasir besides the room charges. According to recent media reports Asim has been using his influence to get the officials of Pakistan Steel mills, released who are involved in a multi-million rupees fraud.

Tall claims of canceling the illegally obtained passports of thousands of people were made a few days ago by the Interior minister Ch Nissar , but his own domain is involved in facilitation of many corrupt officials .

It has also come to notice that Nasir who is DG KDA claims to be a Pakistani resident but holds a NICOP card terming him to be Canadian resident. It is also learnt through sources in KDA that Nasir’s family resides in Canada and he has a running business there. Nasir frequently used to travel to Canada on his Business passport without obtaining a NOC which is another crime. Nasir was completed to get a passport issued with his profession as Government servant after reports of him traveling abroad without NOC were published in Daily Times some months ago.
