Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday reached Jordan on a three-day visit. The top general called on King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and discussed with him regional security situation and bilateral cooperation, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. During the meeting, King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein expressed earnest desire to enhance cooperation between the two countries in multiple fields, including security, defence production, education and investment opportunities. The COAS assured him that Pakistan had the highest regard for Jordan and would welcome any positive initiatives. King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein awarded army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa with ‘Order of the Military Merit’ in recognition of his services for improving bilateral defence and security relations. Earlier, COAS met Lt Gen Mahmoud Abdul Haleem Farihat, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff of Jordanian Armed Forces and offered full cooperation in defence relations, training and joint exercises. The Jordanian Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff thanked COAS and said Jordan considered Pakistan to be one of the most reliable partners and was ready to take the relationship to the next level.
