ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf has tasked his old confidants, the Chaudhrys of Gujrat, to transform his party into the third biggest political force in Pakistan. The party leaders have initiated meetings with smaller parties to bring them under one flag. In this connection, former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain will be meeting important political figures in the country. Sources told Daily Times that the All Pakistan Muslim League Chairman, Pervez Musharraf, has started preparations for the next general election and has held meetings with Shujaat, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Chaudhry Moonis Elahi to unite all the minor political parties on a single platform. A PML source said the Chaudhrys have already begun their ‘work’ and some important political families have showed their eagerness to contest the next general election under the leadership of Pervez Musharraf. Seeking anonymity, an APML leader said Musharraf would make an important announcement in the coming days, which would likely turn Pakistani politics in a new direction. “Some leaders of PTI and PPP are also in telephone contact with Pervez Musharraf and have been invited to Dubai next week” he shared.
