Sir: Water shortage in Karachi has become worse in the past few days as, according to reports, 40 percent of the areas in the city are facing severe water shortage where citizens are being forced to buy water from water tanker suppliers on a weekly basis.
Further, for a long time many localities of Karachi have not been receiving their basic tap water supply, so a large number of households have to purchase drinking water as a substitute. The situation, however, is not entirely due to the shortage of water but due to poor management of affairs by the water authority and disagreements between different offices.
The new government must resolve the issue without any further delay ensuring that people do not have to pay water tax and also buy water from tankers.
