ISLAMABAD: A notification issued on Sunday stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Shibli Faraz has been appointed as the Leader of the House in the Senate. Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Raja Zafarul Haq has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, the notification read. Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had nominated Faraz as his party’s nominee for Leader of the House in Senate over the weekend. On the other hand, PML-N had given the name of Zafarul Haq for the slot of Leader of the Opposition in the upper house of the Parliament. Faraz is a son of acclaimed poet Ahmad Faraz and has been a member of Senate since 2015. His uncle, Barrister Syed Masood Kausar, has served as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor and his father. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Raja Zafarul Haq previously served as Leader of House in Senate. Earlier this month, PML-N nominated Haq as its opposition leader in Senate.
