ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Managing Director (MD) Habibur Rehman Gilani has said noose has been tightened around the fake degree holder and soon their cases will be forwarded to police and FIA. In an exclusive interview with Daily Times, he said, “It is fact that sheer injustices were done with OPF during the previous regimes. The land was purchased at the rate of thousands of rupees per kanal but it was sold out at the rate ranging between Rs 1.5 million to 2 million per kanal to overseas Pakistanis. What highhandedness it is, horrendous, terrific. But what is agonizing is that the society is there today like it stood 20 years before.” He went on to say that contract for development of society was reached with FWO and now the latter has expedited development work. “What was being done before comes before us as a question mark with no yes nodding from any quarter.” He said that over 20 to 25 employees have been sacked for holding fake degrees and their cases have been referred to police, but no action has been taken so far. To a question, Gilani sad that it was not in his knowledge if the cases were sent to FIA but from now they would be sent to FIA. Regarding his meeting with union leaders and fake degree holders, he said “Yes, a meeting has taken place. It was their stance that they should be given right to get their degrees verified from universities but no compromise will be made on policy. It is inevitable that degree should be got verified from HEC.”
