KASUR: District administration representatives planted different plants in various parts of the city in continuation of the Moon Soon campaign on Saturday.
People from different walks of life including judges, lawyers and the district officers took part in the plantation drive to combat climate change.
At this occasion, Changa Manga Divisional Forest Officer Imran Sattar said more than 8 lac plants will be planted by the Kasur Forest Division in this moon soon campaign.
“On 14th August, a ‘Plantation Mela’ will be organized in the Changa Manga forest in which students from schools and colleges, Forest department staff and other people will plant more than 10,000 plants in 10 minutes in an attempt to make a world record,” said the DFO.
District and Sessions Judge Sajjad Hussain Sandhar said that mass plantation is the need of the time and it’s the responsibility of every citizen to plant maximum trees to make Pakistan green.
He requested heads of educational institutions, lawyers, traders, students, factory owners and farmers to come forward for this noble cause.
Moreover, Deputy Commissioner Kasur Rana Muhammad Arshad also stressed on the need of planting maximum trees saying ‘to avert the adverse affects of global warming on Pakistan, plantation is necessary’. He also appreciated the role of Forest Protection Committee in this regard.
