HYDERABAD: The Chehlum of veteran politician and the Awami Tahreek Pakistan (ATP) founder Rasool Bux Palijo was observed at his native village Mungar Khan Palijo, Thatta on Saturday. Famous dancer and activist Sheema Kermani paid tribute to the revolutionary leader at this occasion in the presence of thousands of lovers and party workers. Before her dance performance, Kermani spoke to the attendees of the Chehlum ceremony saying she always loved Palijo for ‘his struggle and sacrifices for the nation’. “Rasool Bux Palijo was the first one who launched a movement (Sindhyani Tahreek) to empower women in Pakistan,” said the dancer adding she hope ‘his party will continue its struggle for women empowerment’. Moreover, comrades of Sindhi Girls Students Tahreek along with leaders of ATP and Sindhyani Tahreek, and thousands of party workers, paid red salute to their beloved Quaid. Several famous personalities including Sindh Tarqi Pasand Party Chairman Dr Qadir Magsi, ATP senior leader Sartaj Ahmed Chandio, Sindhi Hari Tahreek (brother wing of AT) President Anwar Rind, daughter of great leader Shaheed Fazil Raho, Shahnaz Raho and social activist Mir Mazhar Talpur attended the ceremony. Palijo’s younger brother Ghulam Qadir Palijo in his speech also paid tribute to the ATP founder. He said that Palijo played a great role in struggle against the construction of Kala Bagh dam. The niece of the late politician, Sussi Palijo, also joined the ceremony after paying homage at his grave.
