LAHORE: Fully equipped with modern medical facilities, 500 bedded Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences at the Lahore General Hospital has started functioning. It is a 10 storey building, built at a cost of Rs 3 billion where 10 operation theatres would be working also. This was disclosed by Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Professor Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab while presiding over a high level meeting on Friday. He said that all facilities have been provided under one roof and where the patients of neuro would be treated through modern and latest techniques. Senior professors of different departments, Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmood Salahuddin and administrative doctors attended this meeting. He appraised that in this institute, 100 bedded emergency and twi operation theatres would be working round the clock for accidental cases. Moreover, 450 nurses, 300 doctors and around 200 paramedical staff would be available for the patients, PGMI principal added. He told the meeting that latest MRI machine Tesla 3.0 and 128 Slice CT Scan Machine and modern cancer research equipments have been made available in this Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences. Similarly, Tissue Microarray, Automated Analyzers, Electrophoresis, Automated CLIA Test, Real Time PCR have also been provided for the betterment of the patients. He said that such latest systems would not only serve the masses but also help in training the new doctors in the hospital. PGMI principal said that infection free and operation theatre of international standard would work which cannot be even think in private sector. He called this institute a gift for Lahore General Hospital which would further improve its repute in the series of hospitals. He added that in Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences work of cleanliness would also be monitored through CCTV round the clock which infection control system, theatre automation system and pharmacy management system have also been devised which would further help in upgrading the standard. Academic Block for MBBS and Post Graduate level students and library would be additional facility in this Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences, Principal PGMI concluded.
