JACOBABAD: Mother of 5 children was shot dead by her husband on Saturday over alleged relationship with her relative in village ‘Wali Muhammad Sundrani’.
Identified as ‘Nawab Khatoon’ aged 35 was shot dead
Following the incident, police arrived at the crime scene and transported the body to civil hospital of Jacobabad for postmortem. Honour killing is harsh truth of our society. Hundreds of women have lost their lives in Pakistan over pretext for ‘Karo-Kari’ or honour killing. Government has passed many laws to restrict the killing but that couldn’t limit murders in the name of honour. Murderers get pardoned by the heirs of women in exchange for benefits.
Human rights activist Iqbal Detho said that Sindh government has updated the criminal law in 2016 and thereafter, court can send culprit 14 years in jail whether or not heirs sign reconciliation agreement.
