DELHI: An eight-month-old girl was raped by her 28-year-old cousin in the Indian capital Delhi, reported BBC News on Tuesday.
Police sources say that the victim is in a critical condition in the hospital, while also confirming that the suspect has been arrested and charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, meaning he could face a life sentence.
Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal described the eight-month-old’s injuries as ‘horrific’. She also told that the baby had undergone a 3-hour-long operation and that her cries could be heard around the hospital.
The incident took place on Sunday, but was revealed after local media covered the news.
People, specially in India, have taken to Twitter to condemn the gruesome act.
And if your primary rage is at the language a woman used and not at the man who raped an 8 month old girl so badly she needed THREE surgeries to repair her internal organs, something has gone very wrong.
