ISLAMABAD: The designated branches of banks will start receiving Hajj applications from today (Monday), said Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Spokesperson Imran Siddiqi on Sunday. During an interview with state-run radio, he said Hajj applications would be received from intending pilgrims until Jan 24 at 13 designated bank branches across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir. The spokesperson said that balloting for successful applicants would be held on Jan 26. He said that successful applicants will be informed via SMS and general mail, while balloting results would also be available at www.mora.gov.pk. Imran Siddiqi said that this year a total of 179,210 pilgrims from Pakistan would perform Hajj. “This will include 120,000 pilgrims under government scheme and 59,210 under private Hajj scheme. To a question, he said Hajj package for north region will be Rs 280,000, while it will be Rs 270,000 for south region. Published in Daily Times, January 15th 2018.
